Problem, car was in limp mode for a couple of days and finally got it into garage, fault is intake manifold flaps jammed.
Looked at the bar and noticed that 2 of the cylinders had the bar disconnected, tried resetting the fault code but came back instantly so had to remove actuator bar to allow motor to reset so 1 of the remaining 4 must be jammed and not allowing the motor to return to closed position and fault cleared.

My question is because the bar that connects all the flaps wont reconnect on the ones that are off because the socket the ball end pushes into is shot so it just keeps falling back out do I need a new intake manifold or can the be removed or deleted like the BMW ones can?

You can remove flaps, just block the actuator holes by threading them and installing bolts there. Motor can be left intact, if ok, just keep the wire connected. New flaps cannot be purchased as a spare part, so new manifold is only option if want operating original system (of course you could tailor fitting bar between links, or try to find one from breakers).

thanks for the reply, just another thing in a long line of things to do, just had all the rear subframe bushes replaced last week and new front bumper to go on this weekend
