2002 S210 Avantgarde 320CDi in silver. Black leather interior
Help please. My rear window wiper stopped this morning. 2002 S210 320CDi. It was working perfectly well to this point and just stopped mid wipe, and it pouring rain too!:wallbash:. I've checked the fuses (from the very confusing fuse charts, front and rear) and all seems OK there.

Any common points of failure here of note?:confused:

I had the same problem. Search on here for: "s210 rear wiper - common fault?"

Post still there but can't get it to link as on my phone. If not search for all threads started by me. It's about 7 or 8 in the list.

The solution was to switch it on and apply gentle pressure to wiper and it has worked fine since. Good luck.

Let me know if you can't find the post.

Good luck.

You're a gent (or least I presume you're a gent) for responding so fast. I'll give that a blast later.

Had 5 minutes and gave that a go. Spot on to you. Looks like that it's the problem although not terribly happy to wipe but at last the wiper is parked properly. I'll give it a bit of tlc asap. Thanks for the help.

Keep the pressure on a bit longer. It'll go from sluggish and reluctant to fully working.

Good luck

Great. Thanks for the help. I'll post an update when I'm done!

Well, wiper is wiping on its own now. It still needs a bit of tlc though as its not parking properly though. I'll have a rummage at the weekend and give it a good going over. Thanks for the help for now.

Did all that but it still occasionally stops, i.e. on intermittent mode it will runs for 2 or 3 mins and then will stop randomly. A 'wash' press works OK as it only sweeps twice and then parks. I was changing the tailgate lights yesterday evening and had stripped the tailgate interior trim in the hope of also fixing the wiper properly when it was accessible. But short of removing the mechanism and stripping it down a bit, there's not a lot to do.

1. How is the wiper arm removed from the shaft without doing damage? It's been on for a long time and is stuck. :dk:
2. What goes faulty in the motor/ gearing that causes it to misbehave? :dk:

Looks like I'll need to re-strip the tailgate trim and tackle this as a separate exercise. :(

Should be similar to the below.
Try removing the arm and then reseat it to see if any change.
This could be the wiring (broken at tailgate hinge or elsewhere) or a relay or the motor, try the above first.
