Hi

I'd like to delete the egr on my S211 3.0 CDI. My car has already been remapped will it need mapping again?

I have a OB11 scanner- can I use this to delete it or do I have to use Star?

Thanks

Jon

Well it's a lot lot faster. I can get the rear to step out in the dry now even with my AMG suspension and bigger rear wheels.

My right foots a bit heavy atm to get really good econ out of it though.

I have a couple of big m'way journeys comin up so will report back then.

Great- so it's just a case of heading to my local specialist with Star to delete it?

I think it needs removing and blanking the hole, then deleting.

What is the advantage of deleting the egr??

From what I have read the Diesel engine is better with out the EGR it has been said they can actually cut short the life of the engine
Just something I read though.

Thanks for your replies. Strange as there is no blanking kit advertised for this model that i've seen.

Is it possible to just leave it in situ and code it out?

I don't think so. Someone must know

You won't need blanking if EGR valve is tight and functioning. Blocking is used sometimes to ensure that it won't start leak in any circumstances.

EGR can be deleted by star only if car has some delphi systems. Bosch systems need to be remapped (or perhaps shunted, do a search I personally have never bother to find out what this actually includes, I prefer for remapping)

EGR can be deleted and left in place providing it hasn't already gone wrong.
Had it done on my Honda 2.2CTDI, car more powerful and more economical

Ok.

I'll try to get it on STAR nearby asap. Just moved so looking for somewhere in the East Grinstead area- any recommendations?

Just had an email from a local MB specialist saying that its not possible to delete the EGR using STAR.

Is this true?

If you have Bosch system yes. Like said, some delphi systems, its doable... what is model year of your car?

It's an early V6 CDI on a 55 plate.

Is it possible to tell which is which?

Also to get rid of it without STAR on the other version?

Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure you have Bosch (I think Delphis were implemented later), so your only option is remapping then (not possible with star). It's not always possible even all Delphis, I've tried to do that in one W204 (OM651)... option was there but program couldn't access the it.

Thanks for that. My car has been remapped- I wonder if they took out the EGR at the same time then.

I'll email the company that did it!
