Hi Guys,

New to this forum, recently purchased a 2008 S211 E280.

I was wondering if there is a way to have a custom intake with air filters (cone).

Has anyone done this in the past? I'm looking to Map to stage 2, I can't find much in terms of engine upgrades like intercoolers or performance intakes, I know there is K and N filters which I could use. But I fancy a custom intake with cone filters.

Is there any websites that do performance upgrades for the car?

Changing the air flow without changing the fueling will be pointless

Remapping the engine is fairly easy but it depends what power gains you are trying to achieve?
 
Looks like going Stage 2 has VERY good gains of around 70 hp and 205 Nm .

A E 280 is basically a detuned E 320 , so it then remaps to E 320 figures hense Stage 2 .

Correct this. Stage 2 will take it to 290 brake. (Stated) Which is the stage 1 for the E320.

So in my eyes it's safe to stage 2 immediately.

Yep lots of different states of tune around for the OM642, from 180 to 260 bhp IIRC? Also varying torque figures, even for the same bhp.

Is the map the only difference between the stock E280 and E320 though? Or are there physical differences (turbo, injectors, cooling, gearing, diff ratio, etc.) as well?

From what I understand its the same everything - just detuned - a bit like the 325d and 330d which I had in the past - get the 325 as its cheaper and map it.

Who is giving the Stage 2 figures ?
Celtic - unles ive read it wrong - I mean at the wheel I reckon 250-260 which that 3.0l V6 should be able to handle easily - 190bhp is so underpowered for that lump

Oh really, I did have a feeling the 290 figure was a bit steep, I usually use AK Performance after going on Celtic for a figure. Always been great!
 
They don't clarify that's at the engine do they... People think it's wheel horse power
 
They do , engine / flywheel is fine because that's what everyone quotes , including car manufacturers , the illusion is much more sinister .

Look again .

If you're talking about the V6 diesel, don't waste time with filter mods. Just make sure the engine is healthy and maybe paste a 320 tune.
