Sorry for tyre question but I have 245/40/18 tyres all round at mo that need replacing, recommended is 245/40/18 w front and 265/35/18w rear, other option that appears on tyre site is 245/40/18 y all round, the tyre I want can only get in w rating, surely 245/40/18 w would still be ok all round? Thanks

All of those sizes were listed as standard fitment by Mercedes.

The larger rear size (staggered set up) also have wider rear wheels ,from memory 9J as opposed to 8.5 J when the 245/40 /18 tyres are fitted.

W or Y are both acceptable. W is rated as in excess of 168mph, Y is rated in excess of 186mph. Your car cannot reach either speed.

Thanks, thought it was strange it says to use y rated if using same size on rear as front instead of w if using the wider rear, never had any handling issues so not sure it's worth the extra outlay for wider rear tyres

If you have the staggered wheel rims, and you do not follow the MB specification for tyre sizes, speed ratings and load factors, in the event of an accident your insurers might try to use this to avoid paying out.
