As above finally bit the bullet and bought a new key from MB Colchester, Should be here sometime this wk if not early next wk.

Was assured it will work straight away without issues hummm we shall see

Im going on Holiday in August and didnt fancy runing the risk of having to get the car recovered back from Austria if the unlucky happened lol.

Anyway after providing V5, Utility bill, and Passport its all sorted and the car will be complete fingers crossed soon.

    Cost £249.00 inclusive

I have key replacement cover on my RAC breakdown policy. It costs around £9 a year. I think that key cover may be inclusive on some home insurance policies.

£249 is a snip compared to the hassle and cost of recovery from abroad. :thumb:

You have to pass a DNA test to pick up the key when it's done

When I ordered the keys for my SL from MB Glasgow last month all they asked for was driving licence and V5 , besides seeing the car and taking a photograph of the VIN plate .

Each dealer seems to make up their own rules .

My two mechanical keys came to a total of £55 :D

As above, the dealer took a pic of the VIN on the drivers door side, key was at the dealers in 2 days IIRC.
