S212 A service extras - fuel & anti bacterial cleansing

Hello All,

I'm having an S212 E350 Bluetec "A" service at approx 41000 miles and an auto transmission fluid change. This is on a Merc dealer service plan.
Was also offered a fuel system cleansing and anti bacterial cleansing at £40.
Has anyone taken this up and what do you get for your money?

The fuel system cleaning is probably some sort of fuel additive, not a bad idea but can be done DIY (or just fill-up with BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power that have detergents in the fuel).

Google the following: Redex, Miller, Forte, or BG 44K and BG 245 fuel system cleaner.

The antibacterial treatment is probably a can of spray into the aircon ducts. Again, not a bad idea but can be done DIY.

There are more complex solutions for cleaning the fuel system and disinfecting the aircon system, but for the price they mentioned I can't think it will be anything other than the above.
