S212 E500 Avantgarde on Autotrader

Just don't ask Autotrader for a possible P/X valuation on your car if interested in buying. Their valuations are an insult which they then pass on to the dealer who uses Autotraders valuation against your vehicle.

They must use WBAC's business model and offer bottom trade prices

They quoted a p/x price of £850 for my ML.View attachment 62402

Sadly, all part-exchange valuations feel like a kick where it hurts. I wouldn't get too hung up on it, part-exchange at a place which values it closer to what you believe it's worth, and if you can't find a dealer who can get close, sell it privately or keep hold of it.

The W163 is a great car. I wish we still had ours. I gave ours to my father in law and after a year or so he was concerned that there was some rust showing in the arch and he part-exchanged it for less than I spent on it's last visit to the main dealer, 18 months beforehand!

The trader then used it for 12 months, and didn't even change the registration plates (as my FiL had transferred his off the car). My FiL even received a parking ticket a year later, as the trader was still using it and showing false plates, on holiday in Cornwall! Can you tell I'm still bitter :D

There is justifiably a hint of bitterness, we had an issue with a cloner and received a parking ticket saying our car was parked in central London. I live in North Yorkshire and have not been to London since i was a kid, i'm now 70.lol Some right scammers and crooks out there, took us ages to prove that it was not our car in their photograph showing our number plates.

Justifiably so I would say.

Nothing like trying to do someone a favour and they piss all over it from a great height... not to mention the rsehole trader!

Nice car! Great spec. colours and a V8.
But you'd really have to want one.
I paid much less for a 4 year younger and lower milage A6 Avant which costs £80 pounds to fill every 800 miles......rather than every 300 miles.

Heart or head:dk:;)

Petrol engine will have cheaper maintenance cost than the diesel. Also, if you're only doing 5 miles per journey, then petrol will give you better mpg.

In general yes, but I reckon Mactech's A6 TDI Ultra does better fuel economy in any and all situations compared to an E500.

I paid just over a third of that E500's asking price for a 2008 E350 petrol estate with 80K miles on it. I'd like the E500, but I think the price is a bit steep, good spec or not.

The Audi A6 only does 45 mpg on a cold start 4 mile run into town....and I have just paid a total of £239 to have the car serviced for the next 18,000 miles. I'd love to see the bills from the E500:dk:

I sold my 4.4 V8 Range Rover last year and I can honestly say that the fuel costs of the Audi are under half and the service costs are about 30%:D
....and that's before we talk about depreciation!

I'd heard the TDI Ultra is good on fuel. The E500 might just scrape 25mpg on a local cold start 4 mile run if not on a route with lots of stopping and starting, but 20mpg is more realistic for local trips. 30mpg is easy on long motorway trips though, which is my main use for mine.

Actually there's no issue big there: engine aside it's just another E class with the usual bills. A minor service can be under £200 at an Indy. As with any aging German car, costs depend upon what else breaks...

At least on the E500 there is a much reduced chance of the DPF blocking from not doing enough miles to allow a regen. :D

is that going on the fuel computer? I heard in the Media VAG's fuel computers are not that accurate lol
