A NOx sensor (bank 2 sensor 1) has failed on my 2015 E220 Bluetec Estate (S212).

Despite it already having been replaced in 2021, Mercedes have refused to contribute to the repair. In addition to having to pay a £180 diagnostic fee at the dealership to confirm what I knew already from my OBD II scanner(!), I’ve been quoted over £1500 to replace both sensors:

"2 x nox sensors required (30o), software updates, small wiring harness". I think the (30o) is a new part number(?).

My local indy garage says he can’t do the repair as the sensor has to be coded to the vehicle. Is that right?

I’m reasonably mechanically competent so could doubtless replace one or both of the sensors myself – but not if it has to be coded at the dealership.

Has anyone done this successfully themselves?

You could ask your nearest MB specialist garage those questions , might bring the price down a bit and answer the coding question .
