It should do!
When you get it back, raise and lower the car a few times and see if it sits evenly. Check there are no error messages on the dashboard. Two red lights should be fully lowered and no lights fully raised.
You are fortunate you have an honest dealer who will fix the car without fuss.

AMGeed, yes I will fully test it out, Trader is delivering it to me later today so will see if all is well and report back to this thread.

My personal opinion is that the idea the 18“ wheels are causing the fault is toss.

My first port of call would be to look at the compressor.

Well I would suspect a new pump will sort it out,as the car was not showing any signs of lowering when you got the fault up,the thing is that most times it is not the struts,it is a leak on the pipe work, and so the pump works nearly all the time so wears itself out,in normal operation the pump does not run all the time you are driving only when there is demand from the suspension system.

Zipdip, I will take the car to an Indi and get it fully inspected, not getting the car back until tomorrow now, but I will need to be totally satisfied that any problems have been corrected before I spend big money on an LPG conversion, have asked the Trader for all records of work he has carried out, since the new compressor will have a warranty beyond the Traders 2 months they give for the car?

Interesting you are putting the car on LPG,I have some knowledge about these systems, given it is a V8 the cost of the system will be higher than a V6 or a 4 cyl, have you decided on a system, and where are you putting the tank.

Zipdip, the S320 is a V6 Engine, I am going to be putting the Donut tank in the spare wheel well, going to try to squeeze an 80-litre in there might need to modify the boot a little, I need a range of around 250 to 300 miles I think 80 litres will give an effective filling capacity of 64 litres due to expansion, this will be the 5th Vehicle that I have had converted to LPG, I ran two E39 525i's on LPG without any real problems, hoping the Merc will be just as good?

(Latest update) The trader told me today that the specialist is fitting a new Air Pump to the vehicle so hopefully this will fix the Airmatic issue?

At least that would suggest the specialist found something.

When I got my 211 last year, I got my indie to check it over thoroughly before buying it. Yes, it cost a couple of hundred pounds but it was well worth it for some peace of mind. I also saved that money in as much as he found a couple of incidental things that I then got the garage to either sort or gI've me a discount for. He was also able to advise me on the value of the car, which provided another bargaining chip.

The only things he missed, it seems, was a wheel bearing that was on its way out, although several other people missed it too.

Anyhow, good luck. I hope the pump replacement sorts the issue for you.

So you know all about LPG,as you know that donut tank will be proud about a inch or so easily packed out so the boot floor is level,do you have a installer in mind, and a system, these fit in a day guys may be cheap but always worth leaving with them for two days so they set the car up cold,my involvement with LPG came about when my company bought some Vectra's on LPG, on petrol they returned about 34mpg on LPG working it out in money they returned 52mpg and when we had them you could dodge the London Congestion charge.

Zipdip, yes I realise that the tank will be proud of the boot floor, I have used Worsley Autogas for the last 3 of my LPG installations, never had to take any of them back for anything but servicing, he fits BRC equipment by default, have spoken to the One day LPG installers save around £300, but its a much cheaper system, KME & King components, also it would be an 100 mile round trip if anything goes wrong.

The new pump has been installed but all is not well with the vehicle suspension, I can hear the pump and also feel it through my right foot it seems to be coming on all the time even when I accelerate the pump kicks off and vibrates through the accelerator pedal this is just ridiculous, anyone sat in the car can hear and feel the pump in use, this thing is going back I can't be messing about like this I need a working vehicle that I can make a living with, this isn't the vehicle.

Another update, I left the car for a few hours tonight then took her for another run, initially again the Pump was obvious for around 2 minutes on and off then I didn't hear it again while I was driving, covered around 15 miles, called in to the garage for some petrol she was thirsty!, I got back into the car and heard the pump again for a short time then it was silent again, since the car had been stood in my garage for 2 days doing nothing I am wondering why the Compressor needed to keep adjusting the struts when I first started out and why its so noisy together with a vibration after being stood for 2 days? could this be a leak on the system or just a really cheap pump? nothing S Class about the pump at all?

There is a leak
Get another opinion so garage you bought it from will not sell you stories
I'm surprised they didn't not find it while on Star...or they did and are playing games

Have started a separate thread regarding Airmatic issues still not solved, to keep this thread short.
