S500 1995 coupe gearbox?

Hi, I have a 95 s500 w140 auto coupe which reverses when it feels like it. Will reverse on flat no issue (sometimes) but will not reverse up a hill. I’m looking for a gearbox having now been told by gearbox specialists that the box is not being made any more for my model. Does any one have one or can point me in the right direction? Thank you

The first step is always - Check the transmission ATF level when at operating temperature - Or get it checked.
Maybe you've already done this ???
If the car has the 722.6 transmission, it should be possible to dip the level from within the engine compartment.
If the reversing is affected by the levelness of the ground, it could well be low fluid level.

Find another specialist, both 722.3 and 722.6 rebuild kits should be available
