S500 oil filter prob ???

Hi all, back again for more advice, 97 S500 5 litre, undone bolt on top of oil filter housing, bolt will not pull through top cover (or lid) if i try to remove bolt and lid togeather there is not enough clearance, it hits on chassis rail, how the hell do i get it off ?? do you just jack engine up a bit to gain space or are my engine mountings shot, hence engine sitting lower than it should be
any help much appreciated as filter change well over due

Not having this car I am afraid that I cannot help. But be very careful if you jack the engine up, because you will fracture the sump once the free play has been taken up. Use wood to spread the load across the sump.

thats a strange one sounds like the motor is to low.
try raising the motor with a trolley jack,but just go gently,if the motor moves up loads then you know the mountings are shot!
