Hello all

2004 S55 AMG.

Passenger Rear - A2203201738. Drivers Rear - A2203201838.

Iv just been told the bottom bushes for both my rear shockers are worn. Apparently these are not available separate and each shocker is £1,400

Please tell me this is not the case, is there any aftermarket ones available or is there anything that can be done? I think £2,600 is a bit excessive for 2 worn bushes.

Thanks

It's the first time I've heard of rears having this sort of problem. Fronts, yes, as it's a ball joint. They can be replaced by a company in Liverpool for about £100 each.

The rears are literally rubber bushes and as such, have to be able to be removed because they were pressed in in the first place.

First thing is seek a second opinion. Are you able to say who told you the diagnosis?

Yeah i spoke to the chap in Liverpool, he said he does a lot of the Mercedes ones, but its the ball joints he does, normal rubber bushes are not something he can do. He did give me a company name called Nupreme Bushes, based in Sheffield i think that may be able to do this kind of a thing, i havnt looked into them yet.

The car was diagnosed by a Mercedes Specialist in Bradford, iv used them a lot since iv had the car so i trust them with that. Plus he called me down to show me what the problem was, and he was able to twist them with his hands.

He is also of the same opinion that they must be able to come out, but unfortunately has no solution as to what to put back in again as Merc dealers dont do the bushes seperate. :wallbash:

Rears are a rose bush joint, available separately and pressed in/out I have done some myself for creaking, not expensive at all.

Are you sure you have the right part here? Im talking about the rubber bush at the bottom of the shocker.
