How does a vehicle of that/this quality end up having to have that ammount of work done on a resonably newish vehicle.

As a new owner to the brand this type of thing worries the hell out of me.

Regards.

W220 have always been a bit of an expensive car to live with, S600 most of all.

some times you do get issues but its very rare, also alot of the time people who own these cars take them to the main dealer i.e. mega bucks! Do the work yourself and its not too bad or get a indipendant Merc specialist to do it, these cars arent cheap and you have to have the back up funds to repair them. Thats why S class's lose their value so quickly. My dads was £72,000 new its an 06 with one of the highest specs possible, probably worth £29k now and its only done 33k. Main reason for it the parts to repair are seriously costly. Handbrake unit for a S320cdi fitted, £1400 ish...

A 100K car new is still a 100k car to fix.

A S600TT will ALWAYS be a expensive car to buy, fix, fuel, insure etc etc.

That is a fraction of what a W220 S600 can consume in repairs.

And that car is not, contrary to his advert, a biturbo - it is a N/A V12. I wonder if the oil cooler leak has been addressed (time for the engine to come out).

Been for sale for ages and about £5,000 overpriced.

 It is bad enough that my wife now knows too much about Mercs and that V12 is a bad thing for the go-go juice and gets very  at me when I stop, again, at the BP! Meanwhile, the petrol company directors are :bannana:

"Behold, it is The One, he who cannot quench the thirst of the numerous barges he arrives in. Order another Aston, he looks like is doing a full tank refill again"

I saw it was a n/a as its not a facelift. forgot that. Annoys me when people do this

All that being said, they are great cars (once all working properly) and are quite rapid

s600 bi turbo is super quick, iv driven the recent one and it goes like stink

Had a look at a few a few months ago (one was rubbish and flipped to another dealer and then sat on ebay for ages) and they are nuts in the acceleration.

That being said, as the other poor soul has posted today, they can cost a fortune to fix and can you use that performance here......

Many thanks for all of your thoughts and knowledge.

I have an inch of snow settled o/s , so the Merc will not be going anywhere and out comes the old faithful 4x4 dog wagon, though it does smell :)

That's local to me.
If anyone's seriously interested in the car, let me know - I don't mind going to give it the usual visual checks :)

As mentioned though, it's not a BiTurbo model. Why don't sellers make a note of what they're actually selling!

An S-Class always had been, and always will be, an expensive car to run. Goes with the territory.

That said, I wonder how many 92k 02-reg LS430's have had 5k bills on them for such things? Not many probably.

I'm sure somebody can put me right on the command unit in this car. I thought the 2002 onwards model had the widescreen unit ???
