There is a beautiful S65 AMG Coupe for sale
Very tempted I have to say
Rare beasts - not surprised at £185000 new !
Total indulgence
Anyone here have experience of one
Or the S63 even ?

Good luck with the sale
I just love the V12

Are you looking at the post 2014 models, Gordon? We looked at one a while ago, amazing thing. Booked a test drive and someone bought it sight unseen before we had the chance. A very niche market, but these seem to go quick.

There is a really nice white one on at the moment. It has been on sale for at least since Feb.

I looked at a few of these when I was in the market for one. They tend to be few and far between and the good ones don't hang about for long. It does seem that a lot of dealerships are just guessing at the value though as it fluctuates wildly between what are pretty similar cars.

I ended up making the decision to go with a new one built to my own spec, but the S63 and not the S65 as, whilst I love the V12, I couldn't justify the £50k+ extra for the privilege of owning one. Yes, that's an extra 50,000 pounds for a bit better trim and 4 extra cylinders. Negligible performance difference as well now that the M177 engine is fitted to the 63. I'm still waiting for mine but hopefully not for much longer now...

Yes the one in mind is 2015, black with pale cream and espresso leather . Not sure if its a tad "bling" which is not me . Be nice to have alongside my SL65 AMG
Same engine , bigger car

The V12 is soon to be "outlawed" !!

Agree on that 100% , but the used price is £100,000 off new ...............man maths to justify!

I like the idea of the V12. They kept coming up when I was searching. Some of the nicer ones were a bit dearer than they are now.

I couldn’t really spend the extra, but that’s about the only reason. I know they might not be quicker 0-60, but I’m sure I wouldn’t care about that. Given the extra spec, I can see why they are an attractive used buy.

Heading down to MB Guildford to ask the pros and cons of the S65 AMG Coupe
When I asked about an S65AMG L they said "no way" , just too big and too many things to go wrong

So I wonder if the same advice will apply to the smaller coupe ?
Anyway ............let's see what the verdict is

I go hot and cold on the idea

You’d have to wonder why they make them if they are so bad.

I’d say a main dealer car with a 2 year warranty gives you some comfort. The car makes no sense, but that doesn’t lessen the appeal. :-)

Have a look at the cost of the annual warranty for a guide. It looked a bit hefty on my S63 Coupé, but not enough to deter me.

One of the least impressive bits with mine is the gearbox, but the S65 isn’t the same. Hmmm, I can see where this could lead.

Well sadly Guildford said the S65 they had gave trouble as the chauffeur sat all day with the engine running and caused problems because of that !! So the problem was not car related
But driver related

They said ... go buy a V12 as as at the end of September they don’t make them at all. Never again will you be able to buy a V12 merc

So that’s a bummer ... no reason not to

Apart from £80k of course

Very, very naughty chauffeur  He should know that you can only leave your car running for three minutes :p

Hopefully the coupe is unaffected by that. It would be an odd choice for being driven around in.

Chauffeur no way
I sit in the drivers seat

Just checked ... only 17 sold since they were available to buy

However should you decide you need to make a good impression I am available to drive you and am happy to wear a peaked cap ( baseball variety )

Great, I feel the need for speed with additional comfort in my old age but guarantee that 55 years of driving experience will ensure that you will be able to relax and enjoy the rear seats

Agreed !
My GT3 is fast but I have to check the surroundings as I try to get out !
I’m 5 years behind you in experience and beginning to favour comfort and power rather than the rawness of the GT3 type motoring
Oh dear !!
