Hi all, I checked the oil today ,and it is telling me to top up with 1.0 litre, my service is not due for another 10000 miles yet, so was going to pick som oil to top up with , in my service history it has been given 0-40 Mobil but the garage I. Bought the car from did a service but didn't specify which oil they used.
I have rang and asked but. They do not have a record of which oil was used (reassuring I know lol ) so I just wondered which would be the safest oil to top up with to avoid any risk of it gunging up,having any kind of issues with , my car is a 2006 c220 cdi with no dpf , any input appreciated, cheers .dennis .

BMW 520d SE F10, formerly c220cdi estate (for 12.5 years and 345k miles), before that w124 and w210
Use Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge and you can't go wrong.

You could use any oil that meets MB229.5 specification (maybe even MB229.3 - look in your owner's manual). I doubt if there will be a problem if it is a different brand from what is already in your engine.

Different brands and thicknesses will mix, as long as the oil is the right specification you will do no harm.
