samsung chromebook

Hi all

Anybody have any experience of the above?

I need a new computer and was banking on Microsofts new surface tablet but its a dog, theres plenty of small laptops around but not really interested but the idea of the chrome book and cloud computing really appeals so would welcome any feedback or comments particlarly from users

Have not tried MS tablet, but am typing this on a Sony Vaio W8 convertible and it's good.

Chromebook too tied to Google services for my liking.

Apart from MS' search engine. That couldn't search it's way out of a wet paper bag.

Using Google to search MS' knowledgebase always gets you what you are looking for...

Search criteria:

I had a play on a surface the other day and it was a really clunky os, leagues behind othe tablet operating systems. It was also dreadfully slow.

I'll be avoiding everything windows 8 until it matures.

well the Surface is absolute sh*te so the chromebook must be bad

Looks like back to the drawing board for me, chromebook is not that tied you can use MS office and Live perfectly well according to the reviews but I can't find anybody thats actually used one

Exactly my experience, when typing on the keyboard that doubles as a cover it takes ages for characters to appear very clunky and miles behind the rest

Mine has one. Tablet screen flips up to reveal proper keyboard. Runs W8 pro

Nice piece of kit David but a little too high end for what I'm looking for my main laptop is a dell lattitude but I want something lighter and faster for occasional use

Well i have bitten the bullet and bought the samsung chromebook after spending some time on it in pc world and talking to the instore google geek who kindly offered me 10% off i took the plunge

I must admit this kit seriously impressed me and i will write a review when i take mine out of the box and set it up tomorrow got the chromebook and bag for £206 a bargain? Well we'll wait and see, watch this space

Well posting this on my new Chromebook and I must admit it's one of the best things I have ever bought. It is so fast it makes ipads, laptops and tablets look archaic. Never even had to look at the instruction manual it is so logical and intuitive. Trackpad and clicking take a bit of getting used to and once you get your head around the fact that MS Office is cloud based it's fine it works really smoothly multiple tabs and multitasking is no issue, these Exonsys processors are really up to the job, There's no moving parts no drive to defrag and its totally silent and runs cool. Screen has a matt finish so there is no glare but have not tried it outside yet. Ran a short video call and everything is sharper and far better in sync than Skype. Boot up to being logged in was less than 10 seconds and so far I have no reason to doubt the claimed 6 hours battery life.

I'll post some photo's and more details later as I get into the apps and storage but so far I am well pleased.
