Sat nav, no sats showing, sat nav froze.

Hi all, well i have just bought a 2005 E320 cdi S211, and the sat nav is not working, the map is some where else 10/15 mile away, and also there is no sats showing.... any ideas please?

Common fault, many pasts threads on the forum about this if you search. Try pulling the fuse or disconnecting the power from the nav processor to reset. If still the same then you need a new GPS antenna.

If its the same as in my w211 removing a cleaning the disk sorted mine out , can't remember if I lost the sats or not when mine froze

Yes. Just remove the power from the rear of it for a few seconds.

if, when it comes back on you're still 15 miles away the gps aerial is probably knackered. the good news is theyre only 7 quid delivered on ebay! i drove around with a broken nav for 8 months trying all sorts to get it to work. int the end, ebay to the rescue

Mostl likely a duff GPS antenna.

Pull the boot lining back on left hand side of boot and check GPS antenna connection for water ingress & corrosion.
Sometimes have to replace the small link lead that goes from antenna to back of mac drive.
Connector located left hand side if boot up by boot lid hinge.
You may have connector on right side aswell, this will be for phone if it has mb phone kit, both off same antenna

OK so how do i change the sat nav antenna please, is it on the roof inside or the tailgate, i have the new antenna and it is a magnet, small black box, thanks in advance...

Assuming you have a saloon connect new gps antenna direct to the nav processor and place under the parcel shelf, it can 'see' through it. For estate you need to place the antenna somewhere at the front under the dash e.g above the glovebox.

No i bought one off Ebay from Germany for £10, I think i will ask my local garage to fit it as i am partly disabled, thanks guys for all your help...

and i forgot to inform those who like me did not know, i have found the 3.5mm socket for my iphone music player, and Sony walkman, it was in the glovebox, top in the center.....
