Hello guys
I have seen an interesting item on Ebay, link below. It is a tv sat nav cd radio system that apparently came out of a written off S class. There are no leads with the item. I was wondering if anyone know if you can easily obtain a set of leads for this system and also could anyone rate it??. Would the sat nav work on its own or do I have to purchase extra bits, maybe even a contract?
Finally if this is worth purchasing could I fit it in my 1991 R129 300SL without restrucuring the entire centre console.
Many thanks in advance, I have probably caused a stampede to buy this kit if its worth it lol.

For basic operation this thing is just a headunit like any other, so it will plug into the normal ISO type connectors.

It is a very wide unit and is at least double-din height, I don't know how big the SL dash centre section is but if it's not as big as the S class, that might be a tricky install.

Looks good, but "Sold Untested" ?

Depends how much you put into a lottery. You could rig yourself up a lead to clamp onto your battery with a fuse etc and an ISO connector the other end, just to test it powers up, if you are going to collect.

IT costs an arm and a leg to get to jersey ... Why not just get somthing new from alpine. They do single din dvd sat nav installs.

Not worth the hassle in my honest opinion,

If he lives closer i would go round and check it out, borrow a W220 from work and plug it on &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Also, a lot of work to fit it in a R129... A LOT!

Thanks guys I will watch and see how much it ends up and as u say see how much I wish to gamble. I have asked the seller for exact dimensions.
Thanks

That't COMAND 2.5 = 2.5 din slots long i.e. 2 and a half radio slots are needed for it to fit into.

It would be a *lot* of work to fit it into your SL. If you want COMAND your better off looking for a COMAND 2.0 (double slot).

The 2.5 is for the S-class and CL.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Matt
I am going off idea by v quickly now, the other problem I have is that I have a v good MD head unit already in my car , it was just the TV and Sat Nav that was tempting.
Cheers

IT would cost a lot to get it going because i think you might have to install a fibre optic bus into your car too. Plus the Tv tuner is an extra and you would have to get a GPS antenna too.

This is ideal if you are retired and have a lot of time and another car while the SL is in pieces in your garage.

Thats it I am not going to even consider it now as there is no way I can fit a bus in my car lol.

Ohh , this is the final post as i just remembered this.

If customs catch it coming into the UK you will be liable for import duty too :) <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

that was my sat nav unit on ebay, but it was in the uk not jersey,I work in jersey which is why it had jersey as an address.
it was sold as is and untested but looked like a lot of work to put in a car as opposed to buying an alpine unit etc.
