Sat Nav update 2013 e class

Hi All,

I have just bought my first Mercedes - 2013 E class sedan 220cdi (command online). Emailed the Mercedes dealer and asked them if they could update the maps on the satnav before i pick it up in a couple of weeks and this is the response i received back from the sale person..

"I will have to speak to one of our head technicians on Tuesday as I have asked today in parts and 2 of our technicians and I am getting mixed messages. Parts are saying we can purchase an updated Sat Nav disc, however if the car has never had the Nav updated since leaving the factory then it just will not recognise the disc and there is nothing we can do. Others are saying they aren’t aware it can be done and others are saying this is something you can download from home"

If anyone can help clear this up it would be great.

I can’t believe they’ve even openly told you all that, message Rich/Alfie on here from Command online they will be able to advise

Please name and shame the dealer, of course you can update your maps (assuming they are out of date) Command online will advise but it will not be cheap...

In a prior email from the dealer I was quoted £80 plus vat for the update.

Your CONAND is most likely NTG4.5.

It requires the maps update media, which is available on DVD or USB flash drive (the latter is preferable).

In addition, you will need to purchase a PIN code, which will be unique to your car's VIN.

You can update the maps yourself. It takes around 1 hours (using the USB media).

The latest maps edition for NTG4.5 is v18.0 2019.

Unrelated, you can also choose to upgrade the COMAND unit software. This requires MB STAR which dealers and reputable indies will have.

www.comandonline.co.uk can both supply the maps update and upgrade the software - the latter will require that you bring the car to them in Lightwater.
