Our Nick Froome has in past years photographed this event. The legendary Jim Tiller in his Allard are an absolute highlight.

Besides being the proverbial jobsworths, why does the council want to stop this event?

A clue about the council - which is the only political party officially named after a colour?

They will no doubt attempt to justify their stance on the basis of the tragic incident involving a competitor in 2012. The reality, of course, is that the crimplene trousered yoghurt knitters loathe and detest the notion of anyone gaining gratification by driving fast.

I hope they don't succeed If they do then someone should organise an annual All Car Forum Meet / gas guzzler meet there where the idea is to drive along the seafront in a massive convoy revving big gas guzzling or highly tuned engines, meet in a car park to continue same preferably over a whole weekend. I for one would attend
They took the powerboats off windermere They have no tolerance , they will not be happy till everyone is riding a bike. There is no respect for other peoples likes or enjoyment, other people must do or follow what they say pretty much like the Nazis, similar approach (no Tolerance ) , different agenda :dk:

I may have overreacted a bit  What I really object to is the non tolerance vis; .
Argument A I want to save the environment so I will not run a car and will not use a plane to go abroad therefore I will support anything necessary to achieve that objective , Bans , Punitive taxes , I will also try and stop people who enjoy these things from their enjoyment of them etc
Argument B I am a petrolhead I like big engines and car events I like to go on Holiday Abroad. I know some people object to this and have a different way of life I respect that point of view and choice They are entitled to it if they want to live that way I am not going to stop them .

we the petrolheads ,I would say the more tolerant, are the evil ones ?

Argument C I am a petrolhead I like big engines and car events I balance this by having not been on a Holiday Abroad for 25 years.

    Signed.

As a Brighton resident I think these events should be encouraged. Brighton is a tourist destination and as such needs to host tourist events.

    It's a no-brainer really

It must be a great earner for the local businesses, shops, guesthouses etc.

What a monumental c0ckup it would be to cancel such a traditional event:mad:
