I can see where this is all going.

We're going to have to split the debate into:

- w202 - flat badge yes/no
- AMG w202 - flat badge yes/no
- w203 - flat badge yes/no
- AMG w203 - flat badge yes/no
- w211...

We'd be here all day.

Suffice to say - it looks good on some cars, and not others. Or... if your car ends up on barryboys, you know you've gone too far...

I don't think the star would look right on a CLS, but looks perfect on an E and S class. I think the "sportier" the car, the better the flat badge looks.

So, I break it down thus:
Sport look: flat
Elegant look: star

But I personally would never team sport grille with big star AND bonnest star! Too many stars, it's like a night sky!

With regard to "originality" you could swap the grill for OE avantgarde style and the suspension shims for the slimmest. That would likely drop your car by between 1 and 2cm using factory parts that cost under a tenner each!

I'm a Star man.

I've always believed if both the same Mercedes were side by side the one without the star is the cheaper one. I've asked a few people and I’m not alone in this misconception.

If you know your way around a box of spanners it's easy enough with the proper tool (and strong nerves when manoeuvring a compressed spring )
