Hi has anyone tried one of these to disable the sbc system when fitting brake pads or bleeding the brakes after brake pipe replacement

Alot of lads just take the earth off both batteries . Seems expensive for what your trying to do. For a few quid more you could buy an icarsoft mb2 and have total control of everything on the car.

I did think about disconnecting the batteries but I need to do pipes as well so this tool does that too the icarsoft is £125 pounds so bit more expensive

Not unless you activate it by driving, locking, opening a door etc.
Even then it shows an error which clears when it's reconnected is what I've found and shows code as stored not current.
So you've done this a few times with no ill effects? It seems to be the logical way to go. I presume you don't have to reactivate SBC by raising and turning wheels etc?

Many times, never had a problem.
Yep, #me too, many times. I also found, by accident, that if the SBC wanted resetting if I just drove the car up & down my drive a few times it would come back, no problem. I do not advocate this btw! particularly if, like me, your drive has a gradient down to the main road.

Just lock the car up and wait for it to go to sleep. No need to disconnect batteries.

Correct. But its safer for the diyer/layman if they do. :)
