Hi

Is there any way of telling how old my SBC unit is or if has been changed?
Mine looks nice and shiny and the guy I bought it from said it had been changed but I have nothing else to go on.

Thanks

Is there no sticker or marking on the unit itself that it could be deciphered from?

Mine's a 791 which would make it Nov. '07 which would mean it has been replaced. Will have to double check next time it's on STAR.

On a slightly different note, how can you tell if newer, changeover models (I'm thinking 211 specifically) are fitted with SBC or not? I know when I (rarely) use hold on my 2004 211, "SBC/HOLD" is indicated on my speedo. Is this a reliable indicator message, carried throughout the life of system until it was replaced?

Lift the bonnet and look just behind the offside headlamp, big silver ally box with lots of brake pipes and SBC moulded on it...

Thanks. I was thinking about initial questioning of vague sellers on a potential distance purchase!

Really interesting and definitive info. Is it worth stickying this?
