Hello Niko,

Thanks for your interest in my car. Yes it is still for sale. Condition is not great but it runs ok. There is quite a lot of rust on the underside and there is a 9 inch rusted hole on the rear passenger compartment floor. Just put some hardboard over it and you are fine.. Lowest offer I can take is £18,000 as I understand you may need to do some work on it to bring it up to scratch. I would however include the piece of hardboard in the sale so that’s somewhere where you can avoid spending on it.

If you are happy with that then please get back to me.

Don’t you want to come and test drive the car? If so please bring some jump leads with you and some strong mates as we may have to push start it, but a new battery would fix that.

Shipping is no problem aslong as you pay for it.

Regards

Mr Jack Duckworth.

Which reminds me. Have you looked under that W124 yet.??

you ledge you ledge you ledge! hahaha that has made my day! :D

Loved the "include the piece of hardboard in the sale".....:D

any suggestions on how else to wind him up? i hate these scammers. he really intends to rob me of £18k!

Ask him to send you a picture of himself holding a sign showing the date, his name & the slogan "I am a w***ker" to prove he is genuine.. ;)

Some Nigerian scammers on ebay fall for that one...:D:D. Causes great amusement....

So let me see - he sends you £18,000 + shippers fee

You send cheque for shippers fee (after his cheque has cleared)......

If his cheque has cleared..........and monies are in your account - how does this scam work. How does he get the monies refunded out of your account. Surely If you wait a week for the monies to have cleared and stayed in your account - then all is ok.

I know its a scam - but cant see how he gets it to work - obviously if his cheque bounced and you had paid for the shipper (which doesnt exist) he has scammed u for that.

Can you not get him to send you a cheque via a 3rd party address.....but that may be dangerous for them...

Not if it's a Police station...

The scam works by them either taking the car and the cheque bouncing or the cheque bouncing or being fraudulently drawn so the monies are withdrawn from your account.

It's sounds like a typical Nigerian 419 scam.

Take a look here There are some examples of really ingenious wind-ups against the scammers.

It usually takes about a month for an international cheque to "really" clear... many times, the cheques are from banks that don't exist or accounts that don't exist.

After about a week, your bank puts the money in your account, only to then remove it a month or so later.

I've seen these more than once; an interesting thing to do is to cash the cheque and wait for it to "really" clear - the reaction of the scammers is usually quite interesting...

You could always explain that you are really attached to the car and need to be sure it will be going to good hands. Tell him you would like him to send a photo of his mechanic in his workshop, working with some of the tools he will use on your car. Tell him this is very important to you so that you can be sure that he is qualified to work on your car.

Something like that anyway. Enjoy! :D

Ahahahaha! 'The battery may be flat, bring jump leads or strong mates' LOL!

You Legend! Haha!

It can take up to 10 weeks to finally properly bounce!

You can waste the scammers time by telling him youv'e paid it in. They will want the money via Western Union or some such. Tell him you don't trust computers, and you'll post a cheque to him. You can keep it going for weeks...
