I've just bought my first Merc, a 2006 R320 CDI.

I've always had VAG or BMW before so this is all new to me.

It has 20" alloys which seem to give it a bit of a bumpy ride on poor roads, is it worth changing them for something. Bit smaller?

I believe it shares a lot with the MLs of that era, is that correct?

It has the head unit with sat-nav but I can't get my phone to connect to the bluetooth. From research I need a module to plug into the connector that is in the arm rest. Can someone tell me which I need and will it allow me to stream Spotify from my phone to the stereo?

Thanks!

Congrats on the R. A much underrated car IMHO. Is it a long or short wheel base? I had a swb 2006 model for a few years and absolutely loved it. A right good old cruiser.

If I remember correctly, I had to buy something like this..

..although best to check with those guys to be specific.

I also don't remember being able to Bluetooth music but had to use the aux input in the glovebox instead. Enjoy!

Can't stream Spotify via MB bluetooth.

Talk to the Comand specialists, but broadly you can't stream spotify via MB bluetooth. That needs A2DP which is later than the MB spec.

The hifi boys will have other options for you.

It's basically an W164 ML underneath, though I would have expected Mercedes to adjust the ride/handling to allow for the non-offroad role. Probably shorter springs and softer dampers, but a trawl through a parts catalogue would tell you for sure.

And yes, 20" wheels will give you a terrible ride. Go as small a diameter as the calipers will allow, this car was never designed for our Third-World roads so needs plenty of tyrewall height to absorb the potholes...

Thanks guys. I've looked and there seems to be a aux input in the glovebox. I'll speak to command online and see what options I have for the phone.

I found you can buy android head units that can talk to the can bus and steering wheel buttons etc but don't list them as fitting an R. Is the head unit the same as a w164 ML?
