Scotland Road Trip

Here you go

Kielder

Of course it’s always going to be hit and miss whether you get good conditions, but worst case scenario they apparently show virtual images etc.

One point to note, it can be very cold! I wore about 5 layers including a jumper, insulated gilet and my Paramo (plus hat and gloves) and I was still cold. Wear/take the warmest clothes you have! If I’d realised how cold it was going to be I’d have taken my bigger belay jacket! Hopefully by June though it should be warmer.
Just saw ToeKnee already replied!

The trip sparked my interest again so i ‘borrowed’ the telescope I bought my dad a while back in the hope for some clear skies. You can get a perfectly decent scope for not that much. I bought dad a SkyWatcher 130P with a few extra bits (moon filter, collimating lens etc) for about £300.

I’m thinking of buying a ‘goto’ motorised mount as actually finding what you’re looking for in the sky seems the hardest part!

These folk are very good

Although they did make some very good hot chocolate when I went! 🤗

I understand that well hard military types use an Avon product to repel midges.
My father used to chain smoke whilst fishing as he reckoned that kept them away . Alas the smoking was his undoing ...

They were out yesterday in Barshaw Park , Paisley , where I was driving the miniature railway , go near the trees and they are swarming .

You could have popped in for a cuppa , i am just around the corner from the park.

Oh no, hope it’s windy then, and cold, maybe touch of snow ?

Don't forget to send us photos of all the fuel stations with empty pumps.

We are off on the NC500 on Wednesday, hoping for good weather. Unfortunately not in my car or motorbike but a brand new hired motorhome with fixed bed, luxury.
Applecross here we come.
Applecross in a motorhome, I hope, you don't meet something coming in the other direction....enjoy!

There is a caravan site in Applecross, but people are expected to access it from the north side and not via the pass with a caravan or motorhome.

I know that's why I commented, even the North route is tight for a wide vehicle in places I've done both ways many times both on Motorbike and car.

No I haven't actually
It's worth watching ; it's VERY funny : Williams at his best .

Very similar total mileage to my trip in 2010 - I assume that you were in a diesel engined vehicle.
