Hi. New to the forum and hope someone will be able to help.
Drove into work this morning in biblical rain (I think a boat would have been more appropriate). I hit a flooded section of road at 20ish mph, didn't think much about it but now if I drop below 40 mph something is dragging on the underside of the car. You can hear it on the drivers side quite clearly. Any ideas as to what it could be? I haven't looked myself yet because, A) it was very wet and dark when I got to work. B) I'm too old and knackered to get down on the floor.
Any suggestions would be great. TIA.

Take it to a fast-fit outlet - they will often see you see day, phone around for slot - most likely undertray or front or wheel arch liner - get it sorted before you have to replace the whole thing.

First thing my hydraulics lecturer said at the beginning of his first lecture: "Never underestimate the power of water". 20mph may not seem very fast, but if the water level was above the level of the undertray it can easily rip it from its mountings. See any number of Rufford Ford videos on YouTube for details.

This is a picture I took there.

Most likely it will be an underbody plastic shield

Love watching the clips from Rufford Ford. Some of those drivers haven't got a clue.

Because of the idiots its been closed since 2022!....much to the annoyance of locals.

There's a short section of road next to our place that used to flood to maybe 12" at most when it rained hard, and there were always assorted bits of trim, number plates, etc. there when it dried out.

Went through a large puddle some years ago in my old CLK, experienced the same dragging noise you've described. Luckily I was near home, got the jack out and looked under the car, it was the aluminium heat shield that should sit above the silencer. Easy fix if you have ramps, I took it to a garage who put it back on.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Turns out it was a panel from the inner wing that had become detached. All sorted now.
