Unrepairable, of course.

Been through the lot and Kwik-Fit have come up cheapest at £99.40 all in. (Michelin Energy)

I think this is my third puncture in 40 years.

...grrrr...

Why not repairaible? Its not on the side? Or is it still too close from the side wall?

Look on the bright side, it's pretty tidy Del..

what about camskills?

I would repair it myself. It's just an excuse that it can't be repaired.

Looks near enough the wear bars to forget about having it repaired.

You don't need to pay anywhere near that sum for a 205/65/15 !

Poor photo, Steven. Actually over 3mm over entire width. Otherwise I'd be getting a pair.

That's useful.

Camskills, for example quote £74.30 compared to Kwik-Fit's £86.40. Then you've got to add carriage and a faff around to get it fitted.

K/F's price includes balance, valve and disposal - items you can't avoid nowadays.

The honest Borderers at Galashiels ATS and K/F just took one look and said no chance - confirming what I feared anyway.

(ATS quoted £130 - robbers!)

I wouldn't even think of getting that repaired. The shoulders are the parts that flex the most and the flexing would likely disturb the seal around the bung leading to loss of air, perhaps very quickly in a blowout. At motorway speeds that would potentially have serious consequences. Replace.

I posted a similar thread some time ago (screw in a one week old Conti MO tyre...) and there were some very interesting suggestions regarding specialists who can legally repair these sort of punctures.

But ultimately these specialist repairs may make sense for expensive tractor and lorry tyres, not for my Conti which costs only £85 new.

So new tyre it is..

I,m running Michelin energy and find them very susceptible to road surface
and can get quite noisy - perhaps mine are an early version, as they do not look like the example on Ebay.

How are yours for noise del ?

E-Tyres were far cheaper than the competition for my replacement Michelin tyres. They came to my house and an excellent job was done in no time.

Getting the tyre repaired would be madness, it is the only contact you have with the road surface.

We can have a whip-round for Del if he's a bit hard up?

I pledge 7p.

Come on, get your donations in!

I seem to be throwing £3.33's around at the moment, so it's £3.33 from me. ;)
