Everything in UK car parks is designed to cater for vehicles smaller than a Daewoo Matiz.

Anyway, I've scuffed the nearside mirror casing, taking a very small area of paint off.

If I was a normal human being, I'd just accept it, as my 2002 C180 (would that be a W203?) is Tektite Grey, the scuff doesn't stand out that much. However, I am not. So anyone any idea how much a repaint would cost?

Simonl's painted door handles cost £80 so I would guess that's an indication.

Maybe you can buy an already painted mirror casing?

Welcome to the forum Bugblatter :)

Simon used the services of a dealership bodyshop if memory serves me correctly. I think the best thing to do is take the car to some local bodyshops for a quote on the repair. We could guess how much the job would cost but at the end of the day it wouldn't be us that's doing the repair. BTW you're correct that you have a W203 :D

Cheers! That would be the easiest solution. I'll ask the local independent merc specialist.

Thanks! There's a local bodywork place who repainted a big scuff on my previous car and did a perfect job for £120. Only problem is I will feel a bit daft taking my car in for such a small repair. Still the scuff is winding me up more than the prospect of a funny look!

I think a price from a Dealership for a new pre-painted casing is your 1st stop.

a new door mirror housing for a w210 with indicating part is only £50 I think, factory pre-painted. Your w203 mirror housing should be similar. A bodyshop is unlikely to be able to beat that, and you can sell the old door mirror housing on ebay when you've finished, reducing the cost even further :)

I'm glad I came here! :D

I've used Dent Wizard and they were really good. However, they're only suitable for minor door dings and the like.

Hi Bugblatter,

I'm interested to hear how you get on. I too have a scuffed mirror casing so I'd be interested to hear the cheapest way to get it fixed.

btw: Steve is right, I used the dealer's paintshop. Probably not the cheapest solution. I chose it because I was just a little wary of paintshops. On my last car (an old golf) I had a local bodyshop fix a scratch some nice little vandal did. There was slight overspray on some plastic trim and an alloy. I wasn't bothered at the time since I didn't really care about the car.

Simon

Thanks all. I'll let you know what I end up doing.
