I’ve recently had a look at a couple of S213’s. I tried a 2016 220d AMG sport trim Estate with Alcantra / Suede seats and a 2017 350d AMG trim with leather.

The 350d felt far more comfortable and the engine was noticeably smoother. The driver’s seat in the 220 felt too narrow particularly across the base at the rear. I assume that these are the same seats just different coverings?

The sales guy said the seats in SE were a better shape and more comfortable - I can’t see any difference visually but haven’t tried one. I think you can only get the SE as the 220d or you get the SE interior in 350d All-Terrain (which I quite fancy).

Does any one know if the SE seat are bigger / wider or even different to seats in the AMG line cars ?

Well - I think I can answer my own question. I test drove an 350d All Terrain today. These have the SE interior. The seats felt the same shape to me.

I think I'm too tall / wrong shape for the S213 E Class. I find the seats too narrow, this coupled with the offset of the accelerator pedal and my long legs means I just can't find a comfortable driving position.

Liked the All Terrain though! Impressive looking car up close and drove rather nicely.

Looks like I'm keeping the trusty S211 until I can find something to replace it with comfortable seats.

How tall are you? I'm 6'2 and have no problems in a W212, or even the 2019 C class I sat in, at the dealer

6'4 but its seem to be mostly in the legs! The W212/S212 are OK as long as they are not the sports seats. The Elegance / Avantgarde leather seats are a good shape for me.

Have you tried lowering the seats and lifting the wheel paulXC? I know it seems simple but i recently changed mine a fraction and finally after owning 3 mercs ive found the most comfortable position for me. Worth a try to get a 350 engine.

I've tried moving the wheel up and down and in and out but I think the problem is more that the accelerator pedal is offset, so to get my arm position right my right leg is at an angle over the side bolster of the seat. This cause pressure on the underside of my leg and then numbness.

In my E500 the seats are pretty slim but as the car is narrower the pedal offset is not so noticeable. In my LHD E320 there is no offset to the pedal so it lines up pretty with my leg.

Orrr i thought you would of moved seat and wheel about just sometimes you never no lol. E500 bet thats a beast?

Paul, if you haven’t already, try and look at a W213 with the memory seat function, there’s a hell of a lot more movement and adjustment available than the part electric seats.

This statement is probably correct, I had a Test Drive in a Face-lift S213 last Friday and the Seats controls were sadly lacking in Range, I'm 5ft 7in and my head was touching the Roof Lining and I couldn't lower the seat any more! It may have been a Fault of course!

The All Terrain I tried had the memory seats. I'm going to try another and then decide on it.

:D
