Just going over my New C class, have clayed and DA the bonnet.

Want to know what the best way to apply the sealant? ie with a Black pad on the Da speed 1? and would you recommend a Wax afterwards or does the sealant do the same Job?

Thanks

I guess there will be as dozen or more views on this but personally /i wouldnt wax over a sealant, waste of time in my view.

Mind you I only ever use wax as a sealant.....and only ever apply it by hand.

ATB;)

You using/talking about CG hex logic pads?

As per one of the replies what sealant/wax combo are you thinking?

Could save yourself the hassle of using two different products and use a hybrid

You can use any " soft" pad to apply your sealant, most are blue, black or red.
Dont use too much, 3 equally spaced " pea" size drops on the pad will suffice.
Set the speed to no more than 1500 on the DA thinks thats 1 or 2 on the dial.
Work the sealant until its gone opaque, then buff off by hand.
Now! I have only ever buffed off once using my DA or Rotary, I learned the hard way, bloody holograms all over in the sun!!
Sealants are getting better and better now, with some offering all the benifits of a sealant and a top coat wax all in one.
Personally I like to seal and then wax on top, splash out and add a couple of coats of expensive wax on top, you wont go wrong with the likes of Swissvax etc.
Its your decision, stick with synthetic waxes or all in one sealants, or go the natural route with carnauba waxes?

Hi ya,

What sealant do you use?
I am doing my red C63 this weekend and finishing with dodo juice orange crush wax.
Most of the polish will be Scholl +17

Over the years I must have tried every kind of sealant under the sun, the Carlack twins, Menzerna Powerlock, Optiseal, Jet seal 109, Zaino and even Rejex, all of the above are good paint sealants.
But non of the above can match the current Gtechniq range for durability or shine, but they are much cheaper and easier to apply!
Dodo juice do some great waxes, but be carefull if you have any " clear film " protectors attached, like Porsche have infront of the wheel arches.
I find that brightly coloured waxes, can stain the outer edge of the film in some cases, so I tend to use a neutral coloured wax if possible, DDJ Supernatural is a great wax by the way, as is Swissvax Best of show, albeit expensive.

Generally I'll DA my A45 and instead of using the DA to apply the sealent I'll do it by hand, current choice is Swissvax Shield.... Applied with just your fingers and then a foam puck to spread evenly. However, for the wife's Evoque, Dodo SNH.

As for wax over sealent, I'm a fan of doing this.... But 24hrs after the sealent has been buffed off/in.

The finish is great.

Megs light cutting compound, followed by Menzerna SF4500 or SF4000.
