With the first child arriving in December had a look at car seats this weekend.
We tried various car seats we liked but found that there were a few which we could not fit in our car as the rear seatbelts were too short.

Does anyone know if I can get longer seatbelts installed?
Or get some kind of extension?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Had same issue a few months back...

we went for Britax Evolva 123 Ultra Geneva car seat.

This is up till age 11 and rear belts fit ( just !! )

Thanks for the advice. We actually did go to mothercare to try all the baby seats and thats where we found that only 1 of the three seats fitted as the seatbelt was too short.

The two seats that did not fit we liked as they could also fit onto the pram as part of a travel system. Ideally I would like the travel system as it saves waking up the baby when he asleep in the car and transferring him/her to the pram.

I guess we have to do some more research then

We ended up going to babies R us (Toys R us) and they tried quite a few seats for us, so we was sure it would fit correctly, they was very helpful we found.

"Travel System" indeed! Master and Miss Gollom had a box on wheels and were glad of it!

Youth of today - pampered I tells ya! Now when I were a boy.....

(Come on Ian - tell us what it was like a VERY long time ago!) :p

ooo reclining seats, heated seats, foot rest, head rest travel dvd all standard on prams now more mod cons than my car:D

just like the E55 I have found the rear seatbelts tight too on the C36, but manage to get a maxi cosi seat in without problems. you could also get a maxi cosi base which stays in your car and uses less seatbelt than normal, which may be an option for you!

Thanks for all your input guys.

I need to speak to Mrs E55 and see what she thinks. I dont mind what we get as long as junior E55 sleeps and we dont have to wake him up when we are using the car.

Just hope whatever seat I get does not ruin/damage my rear seats as they are in perfect condition!!

Easy.
The way my kid told me he did not like his car seat was by just being sick in all of them.
When we got the third one he was alright with it.
Never been sick since.
First to go was mothercare, then graco,

I wouldn't be worried about the seat ruining the back seat..

We have just bought the Quinny Buzz which you can buy all the parts to make a travel system. The Maxi cosi seat fits the Quinny Buzz frame. We chose this because it had the option of the seat base so you can quickly clip it into the car. I would strongly recommend looking at this option. We tried many others before we got to this one.

Happy hunting and good luck for December.

same as Gizmo we went for the buzz, maxi cosi, easy base, and carry cot!

we actually left the easy base in the other halfs car and used just the seat when using the C36, no problems and it is a very supportive seat for the little un !

good luck!

We've got all this to come ... baby also due in December. The Vito we're getting has isofix on the centre rear seat, so we're intending to go that route.

Hello,

We went for the Maxi Cosi Cabriolet (think thats the full name), as with this seat we also bought two base units.

We have a base unit attched with seat belt / isofix in each of our cars.

Then all we do is click this into the base unit and off we go, no phaffing each time with seatbelts. I great idea when you have the pram to fold in the boot, shopping to put away and its raining...

The bases are around £60 each but well worth it for ease of use.
