I need some help with my drivers seat belt :wallbash:

i started a thread in this section about seat belt stalk for a w124 but got 0 replies

i cannot upload pics as i am overseas and cant get to the car, however i would like to get some info on the make up of the entire drivers side seat belt stalk

The stalk i have is very badly worn and missing some of its parts, the stalk itself is attached to a rail but missing all the trim even the clip (the part the buckle fits into) is missing its trim, the rail now moves up and down (front of seat) and the stalk actually moves up and down the rail, when i go to fasten my seatbelt its in a differnet position to were it was when i got out it also moves whilst i am trying to buckle the seat belt

do you have any ideas what is causing the problem and what i need to fix it, i have seen many stalks on ebay but dont wsant to buy them incase i need other parts

many thanks and kind regards

im not back for several weeks, i should be back around 4th sept so will contact you shortly before thanks

The seatbelt stalk is bolted to the seat frame by a large bolt and spacers- this is to allow the bolt to be tightened but leaving the stalk free to rotate and take up a straight line with the seatbelt angle. I wonder if some of these washers spacers are missing? Underneath the stalk is a rectangular bracket which the seat guide rail should go thro. The rail attached at the rear to the transmission tunnel and if the seat is removed [ this is done in a forwards direction after the 4 bolts holding it to the floor are removed ]should be "threaded" thro the bracket again when the seat is replaced . Sounds as if that may not have been done? You will probably need a new seatbelt stalk+washers +bolt

I think this part may have changed during the lifetime of the W124. Every W124 has these so any breaker will have them
