The (light grey) front seatbelts on Sue's CLK (W209) are filthy. Not just dirty or grubby - FILTHY. I reckon whoever had it before her was a mechanic or something and never washed his/her/their hands

I have been trying to gradually clean as they are far too bad to clean quickly (I mention they are filthy?!!) but barely making a dent. I think it would be easier to be able to soak and clean them away from the car. How practical or difficult would this be? I don't know if tensioning etc. is involved

Cheers

I imagine a fair bit of lower and side trim would need to come out.
As the unused part of the belt will be clean could you extend the belt as far as you are able, clamp the belt to prevent it retracting, and leave what you can in a bucket with the door open?
