Seat cover replacement

Hi,
I have an R230 SL 2002 MY and the drivers seat is getting a little worn on the outside edge (nearest the door). Has anyone tried replacing these - do you need to do both Passenger and Drivers or is the match usually good enough if you get a replacement?

The alternative was to possibly swap the passenger and drivers seat around to prevent it getting worse - but I am not sure if that is possible.

If anyone has done this could you let me know how it turned out.

Many thanks

I did the seat pad on my W202...i wouldn't say it is a difficult job technically but was hard work (required a lot of brute strength) to get the base back together and it is 2 man operation to get the seat cover back on.

If you are doing the cover do the pad as well at the same time as it certainly will improve the comfort of the seat.

A local car upholsterer wanted £40 to do it so I saved myself that but never again

If it is just the colour of the leather that has come away then get some new dye from somewhere like liquid leather - dont have their address here but you will find them on google - they are very helpful.

On a car like yours, I'd get it done properly at a coachtrimmers:

Car Trimmers & Upholsterers in the UK (on MyCartel Business Pages)

My local one (Bartons, Luton) do excellent work for very reasonable prices. The new bolster panel in my 1991 300E Twin Turbo is clearly newer than the rest of the driver's seat, but not so much as is irritatingly noticeable and it is genuine MB leather too, which Barton's had in stock (they're only a small outfit).

Search on here for heated seats, quite a few posts showing you how to strip seat etc, i did the wifes 2001 w203 seat, not sure if same as yours but was vey easy to do.

Lisas cover was also very easy to fit, whereas my car was a right *******, mainly i think as mine is an old design car and lisas is newer.
