Car
Volvo V90 D5 AWD
One of my longstanding tenants (who I now consider as a friend) has just started as a salesman at a small 2nd hand car dealership in the Black Country.

His remuneration is basic plus commission.

Have a guess how much he commission he gets, per car sold?

Depending on your side of the fence - entirely too much given the cost of the car, or nowhere near enough for the work put in..

£100 and 12k per annum basic

Not a lot I would say, perhaps some kickbacks on HP if he can flog that too.

1.5%. Totally don't know.

One of you is very close.

Pray tell ....

^^this^^ main dealer new sales =£300 per car sold, second hand, independant would be £100 to £125

moon loops is a good judgement of your thought that a main dealer salesman earns £300 per car!! :D

10% of the profit + commission on selling gap insurance, finance products, car protection sealants.

Surely its got to be a % as cars on sale will vary a lot in price?

Probably, but they could just be box shifting which is how car supermarkets work.

A friend of mine at Audi was telling me how it all works.

If they don't sell at least one of the add ons, like finance, gap, paint protection then they get penalised, they are actually better to not sell the car to you at all.
