Apologies if this has been posted previously an I missed it.

"A guy by the name of Tim Brady has just been clocked by police
allegedly speeding at 172mph in a borrowed Porsche 911 Turbo!

If convicted Tim will set the record for the fastest speeding
conviction EVER recorded in the UK...

...breaking the previous 'record' of 156 mph.

The courtesy car delivery driver was arrested by police in the
£97,000 supercar after allegedly borrowing it from his bosses
without their permission - to impress his mates.
A spokesman for the company Tim works for said: "He did not have
permission to drive the Porsche. He came in this morning and
resigned."

But it gets even worse for Tim...

If convicted, he will almost certainly face jail time.

The speeding 'record' was previously held by car dealer Jason
McAllister who was caught doing 156mph in Scotland in 2003.

He was jailed for five months for that offence!"

A bloke in a highly tuned Supra came over from Japan to record himself doing a silly speed in the UK - can anyone remember what he got clocked at? I could have sworn it was over 156 mph, although my memory's not what it once was.

Did I ever tell you about the bloke who visited from the far east, and who bought a hot Toyota with him? Can't remember what he managed to get up to - got brains like a sieve me.

Anyway, back to topic. A bloke from Japan went really fast in a Supra a few years ago - I could have sworn he was clocked at over 156 mph.

;) :D

As I recall, it was one of the Top Secret cars, they were trying to crack the 200mph on the newly-widened section of the A1(M) using a Supra with an RB26 lump shoehorned under the bonnet, chucking out about 1000hp.

They managed 194, but when trying again got clocked by a brace of police T5's at about 130mph. The chap at the wheel managed to get away with a fine of about £150, god knows how.

They've got a fairly long history of completely insane cars (700hp 200SX, a couple of 700hp+ 350Z's and some very silly GTR's and Supra's

Sounds about right. Seems you have my share of memory!! ;)

Unfortunately, my mind is a harvester of useless ********, and I've spent a long time in and around the more obscure parts of the Japanese car scene (hence the DC5)

Frankly, I don't understand why they needed so much power; the S6 will hit 170 once the limiter is removed...strap on the MTM K500 supercharger kit, a little fiddle with the final drive ratios and it should be good for 200mph (a similarly kitted RS4 K520 has already achieved this).

The world is your lobster :)

I was allegedly observed at a somewhat higher speed last year.

Unsurprisingly, the evidence was on very shakey ground. I wont be risking my liberty again - the Busa is now sold.

I had a friend who in the late 90's was in the guiness book of records for the highest recorded speeding offence at 165 or something. This is no longer recorded by Guiness due to people deliberately trying to break it.

This Happened near me

This happened very near to where I live in Oxford and was reported in The Oxford Times last weekend. It happened on the A420 Swindon to Oxford road (if anyone knows it) on one of two stretchs of dual carriageway. I can only think that it would have been on one of the stretchs as this is quite straight, the other has quite a few bends.

However - he must have been gunning it on the normal 60mph road before he got to this stretch  Even so - this is mad on this road which is set in a fairly rural area with plenty of side roads joining and some residential parts. He could have waited for the A34 / M40 if he had to do this crazy speed at all!

I reckon they will throw the book at him and make an example.

Wonder what the owner of the Porsche thought. ?

:) As my old sargeant used to say, "Any fool can drive fast enough to be dangerous... even Porsche drivers;) !" I must confess the last bit was added on to keep this thread on its topic? :D
