C180 W202
Thinks its time for a change from my fault increasing C180
Is there anything I should look out for in a T reg S class 130,000 miles

Is it expensive to run 3.2 engine
I like the big boot :0)
I am use to a C180

Your advice much appreciated

If you think your c180 has a lot of faults , wait until you own a 1996 130k S class lol !

There's just so much to go wrong with them , in their day , they were the most complicated car in the world.

IIRC they used a fibre optic loom ?

Anything that fails will still be fortunes to replace, £70k cars , even when they are only worth £1k , still come with £70k car sized bills.

Isn't T reg 1999 :0)

Yep

If it's a w140, it'll be one of the last ones to be registered and will probably be o.k, barring any head gasket and rust issues. If it's a w220, it'll be the first production year and you should run away and not touch it with a barge pole.

I think '99 T-Plate was the swap over between W140 and W220. Which are you looking at? Plenty of threads on here with advice about buying both, I ran a W220 from 2000 when it was six years old and 'got away with it' pretty much but as Howard says there is a shedload to go wrong.

Excuse my lack of knowledge
Whats the difference between W140 & W220

Itrs just that I like the car

Yep its the W220 I looked at

Many thanks guys

Honestly , within a month of owning a T plate w220 , you'll be living in a box under a flyover !

It'll bankrupt you that quick !

Sorry C180 looks like you will have to put up with me for another few years :0)

If you insist on buying one, take your time and buy private, preferably from someone that has owned it for a while.

The W220 is that cheap now that even if it did go catastrophically wrong, you'd be able to strip it for parts and make half decent money.

Oh, and go for the V8; it's what the S-Class was built for.

^^this.

I reckon only a Bangernomics approach makes any sense for a cheap W220 now. If you can't afford to throw the money you spend on one away don't buy it.

If you can and you get a year or more top-flight luxury out of it then... ...happy days.

Get a W210, E300TD. The only issue they have is visible body rust.
