SEL 6.9 Barn Find

Looks like a lot of rust there (roof is really bad) ... a big project for someone with deep pockets who's feeling brave!

That looks like it’s had it, hopefully someone can save it

Well it is rare, and at least it is all there, but you would have to see it,as always you need the space and the time to tackle this, for me the fact that the engine runs and apart from the roof, panels do not look too bad,I would consider it but no garage space,I hope a member buys it,would love to see it returned to former glory

What a wonderful hobby that could be.
I’d love to restore it, maybe put a bit of a twist on it.

I’d fit the bouncy suspension like the Hispanic boys do over in LA.

I would love that but I priced up a restoration of one some years back and parts alone were starting to push into 6 figures. The suspension stuff is not cheap and its guaranteed to all need renewing.

Considering the condition by the looks of it the seller is wanting way too much for it as its at 3100 and the reserve isint met!

So tempted by this. But I have 0 engineering/mechanic skills so I fear the cost to bring this back up to scratch will not be economical? I imagine it would cost ~£25k+ to pay someone to re-commission the car (totally finger in the air figure)??

Just saw this. Clearly my £25k finger in the air figure was a GROSS miscalculation!

There are a handful of 're-commissioned' on the market at circa 45-60k GBP. I wonder how they've done that if it costs so much to fix up?

Dont be so sure. For a home mechanic, this could be a nice long term project. A lot cheaper if you have time to refurbish parts, look for good used etc. These cars are now fetching 50K+ in good condition.

Wouldnt work IMO, unless you like burning money. Good ones come up and it would be better to pay more for an original or even restored example.

Easy, they are not fully restored. Just recommissioned. I,e. fix anything thats broke and give it an oil change ;)

If this is the air suspension model, and I suspect it is, the parts are very difficult to source, and you really need to know the system to get it functioning properly as they can be a pain . Unfortunately those skills are being lost as there are very few people left that know these systems inside out.

Also the 6.9 engine is quite a complex beast....way ahead of its time when it came out but again requiring specialist skills to get it to run correctly.

So, as said before, to needs loads of spare cash to take this on.

If you look at the pictures closely there's lots of rust apart from the roof, so I suspect it's spent a fair bit of time out in the open. No mention of the interior conditions, nor any photos ... ?

Up to £5500 now and past the reserve price.
