I wonder if anyone would comment on a small problem I appear to have.

Last Tuesday I picked up my car from the bodyshop after having a repair done. The car was there for 2 weeks and I assume not started, or if it was, not often.
When I came to pick up the car, I noticed message flash onto the dash something about essential consumers being switched off.

This message didn't appear again and all was well until yesterday when I noticed that [a] the mirrors do not fold when locking the car, and (b) the windows /sunroof do not close when holding down the lock button on the remote.

Is it possible my battery is on the way out, or at least could do with a charger boost or is this something more sinister like a faulty DCM?
I don't have a meter to check this myself.

Usually when battery on its way, you get message "Battery Protection: Convenience functions temporarily unavailable'.

I thought the fact the car was unused for 2 weeks may have had something to do with the convenience function message. The problem is I haven't had the chance to give the car a decent run since I got it back.

Maybe all settings gone to default, might car stood for 2 weeks, had flat battery and before giving it back to you, was just jump started?

The 'Malfx Electrical consumers switched off' message indicates a low battery charge. This should not appear again after a half hour drive. Give this a try first and see if this solves your other problems.

No it started on the gearstick button as always. Then again I don't know what the bodyshop got up to. It was driven 6 miles for a 4 wheel alignment check.

It's getting a 35mile run tomorrow morning to MBS at Southampton for a checkover.:bannana:

6 miles ! I would ask why - testing your car performance!!

It's OK, I know where they too the car for the wheel alignment check. Its about 3 miles each way. No doubt someone enjoyed that run:eek:

Perhaps they disconnected the battery while working on the car.

Quite possible.

Mirrors now folding back as they should. Must have taken Colin all of 30 seconds to reprogramme the cluster from the default setting of off.
While I was there he had a look over the car and found a couple of problems.

As mentioned in the last MOT advisory, the osf ball joint needed replacing and that was done in super quick time. Also noticed was a bent steering arm which is putting the osf wheel out of camber and will result in rapid tyre wear. The car must have taken a wallop at some time to do that.
That, along with a set of rear discs is now on my list of jobs to do.

Oh, and I need a master control switch for the windows as it appears my nsf window is not operable from the drivers seat.
So, not too bad and had it not been for the driving rain, the trip up would have been much better.

Thanks again Colin ,Carl and Dave for their usual top work.
