Hi all,

My dad is looking to sell his W202 C240 Sport or p/x it for a newer car ..

Took it to the VW showroom today and they said they would give us £1700 for it!!!

We looked at them, laughed and walked away. Problem is I think that their logic on why these cars seem to be underpriced these days is true.

They claim the larger sized engine vehicles and V6 engines particularly are worth a whole lot less with the credit crunch, going green, petrol prices etc..

So now im unsure of what to do. The car is immaculate and only has 62k miles on the clock ..

I think my dad would keep it if he could find a leather interior to put in it but they are few and far between...

Any suggestions? What do you think is a fair price to tell it at?

We're not in a rush to off load it as its a great car and want it to go to a good home for what its worth.. :)

Perhaps a few more details would help matey!

W202 C240 Sport Auto 99 T Plate in Silver

FMBSH 62k miles on the clock

Totally unmolested as standard, air con, cruise, etc

Only 1 change to it is the addition of a 10 CD changer in the boot.

MOT till Feb Tax till May

Last serviced by MB specialist in April

Body work and interior are imacculate no marks no rust no anything. At worst there are 2 paint chips where someone may have opened their door on the car before we bought it (these have been painted and cannot be seen unless really looked for).

Anything else I've left out?

Thanks Iain

Is that from What car?

I've got a few more quotes from the likes of AA and researching current prices on autotrader, exchange and mart, ebay and pistonheads..

The VW garage said I should try and sell it on a specialist platform because of the condition ..

Do you think its worth me listing it here?

Yes.
That was What Car.

Personally......................... I'd look for a leather interior!;)

hi

cheers

Based in west london... (near heathrow)

We have a rough idea on price. Of course you are welcome to come and see it etc send me a pm if you're interested.

Just realised there are no pm's! Or at least maybe not for a newbie such as myself..

HAHAHAHA no comment!

In fact we've only had the car since February 2004 and purchased it from Mercedes Benz Direct..

No comment about those seats! But my dad has been complaining about having leather in it for the last year or so..

There are regularly W202 leather interiors on Ebay, or try a breaker.

Indeed ..

Can the pre-facelift seats fit the newer W202's like ours?

I think you'll struggle with the doorcards though, regardless of the seats themselves.

They're a different shape and the front ones have airbags in them IIRC.

You'll find a facelift leather interior if you *really* want one. As Dieselman says - eBay/breakers etc will turn one up eventually :)

Thanks Will .. My dad actually likes the carbon door cars in the car at the moment so I think he just wants to change the seats :)

Just checked the trade in price from glass via the vauxhall site (as listed in another thread on here) and the price is £2100 for good thats laughable!

Not really, I picked up my W202 with 76k for £1500, it's not mint but the w203 can be picked up for about 3.5k now so 2.1k looks good for a car that went out of production 8 years ago......

Unfortunately car prices are very low at the moment, that sounds a fair PX value to me. I bought my 99 C200 Elegance nearly 2 years ago for £2750 with 95k miles and FSH etc.

I just sold my wife's 2003 BMW 320D SE for £4200. At least the next car cost proportionally less.

Just keep it and enjoy it, I don't think it is worth selling for what you are likely to get. If you do sell make sure you buy and sell in the same market.
