Selling my W220 - some advice needed.

I've finally decided to move on from the S class.

I'm looking for some advice on the best way to price and advertise the car.

Parkers as below for a 60k miler, mines just turned 100k last week:

Franchised Dealer £12,205
Independent Dealer £11,725
Private Good £10,650
Private Poor £8,765
Part Exchange £9,335

It's in perfect condition and has loads of receipts showing about £6k spent last year plus routine servicing. The big spends were both rear airmatic struts (OUCH!), torque converter and a couple of injectors.

So while a bit higher milage than the average, I can confirm that the last 65k was 95% motorway miles with me behind the wheel.

Full MB history and the repairs above were MB also (hence the £6k).

Any comments gratefully received.

Despite the high fees I still feel that Autotrader is the benchmark for buying and selling cars. Though it's very likely that Ebay is quickly gaining market share. For the value of your car I would simply advertise it through both websites, using the Ebay classified section, rather than auction.

With many buyers now focusing on fuel and tax costs you may want to highlight the affordability of the S-class in that respect (I assume it is?)

Good luck.

Presume it's a facelift then with a widescreen comand.

MERCEDES-BENZ S320 CDi- Auto Trader UK

is a useful comparison. I've seen others at or around this sort of price also. I suspect that Parkers may be slightly top heavy. It proved to be case when I sold our last car also.

You've got little to no chance of recouping any of the £6k worth of receipts. Buyers expect things to work, sadly it's down to the seller to make it so.

Thanks guys, it is facelifted and galvanised.

I know I'll not recoup the £6k (between you and I it was paid for by warranty) and the depreciation is the price I pay for doing big miles.

I suppose that at this stage I have to figure out whether the hassle of a private sale is worth the extra I could raise above a trade p/ex. If I was to sell privately I suppose I'd do the A service that will be due in about £2k miles - £250 approx.

What is the webuyanycar price? Use this as a worst case scenario and go from there.

Ive used that web for prices in the past.
