Selling Privately Not much happening!

The second hand car market imo is all over the place. Prices are to, its difficult to judge WBAC are nuts on their vals they booked my CLS at 3900 a one owner heavily optioned ultra clean car i went onto sell at 8k.

The right buyer will come just i like i did. Its a bit of a waiting game. Ive advertised the car through some other free portals too. No not gumtree!

They are hard to value. I keep an eye on the classifieds. A clk280 sport cabrio with low miles on a 2009 plate sold within a week at my local specialist....it was up at 9,750 so must have achieved something close to that as it sold within a week.

Always hard to sell perceived complicated cars privately....people gravitate towards dealers for perceived peace of mind. I think your price is fair. It may just be the waiting game.

Whoever posted 5k as a ceiling for all cllks is talking crap. Sure they are not the most sought after model but they still have some value. Glasses guide puts a value of 9,500 on mine. There are plenty of late models out there at higher prices but don't know if they sell well privately. I will not find out any time soon as mine is a keeper. In the long term I think they are a future classic. Very pretty cars....I see them as the w124 of the noughties.

I think the issue with the 280 model is the fact that the 350 exists for not much more outlay be it in terms of initial purchase or running costs. I personally wouldn't buy one based on that. Having said that I'd also not buy a 350 because the more reliable 500 model is cheaper to buy also if you grab an early model and let's be honest to most people the facelift will make no difference.

For what it's worth, end of last summer I sold my black with black leather CLK500 2002, 80k miles, fsh, fully loaded bar keyless and amg body (had amg wheels) for £4K within 2 days on autotrader. Had no interest on here for well over a month if I recall correctly.

Btw that is a lovely looking motor you have, good luck!

Ps forget glass values and all that rubbish, if it don't sell it's not worth what you're asking.

I did se3 your old car. Some people may think i dont need 4996cc i only need 2996cc!.

It will sell, i tend not to take to much notice of guide prices.. its a genuine clean car. The right buyer will see that. :thumb:

AT 4630 last time i looked.

Not being funny but if you've been offered that rip their arm off :)

Anyone who comes to see a secondhand car wants to knock something off, if you're advertising for £5k then you've only looking at a difference of £370?

I suspect most buyers would plan to knock a similar or greater amount off the price.

Bird in hand and all that :thumb:

Thats autotrader val Will. I had a guy offering asking but wanted warranty and a full refund if any problem's in the first 6 months of ownership... i declined.

5k isn't a great deal of money for a car these days. If you want the bells and whistles like some of my callers spend 50k.

Digressing Abdul. Like the CLS350 / 500 nothing in it. It all comes down to well imo condition and history.

So that puts your keeper at 300 quid.

LOL soon yep the values dropped very much, see some 2003s for even £1000-1500. I could probably get around 2k for mine? again only some stone chips on Bonnet rest of bodywork mint, FSH at MB and Specialists

But I'm not selling mine any time soon/ ever

So I'll continue pooring money into it

Hold on, if WBAC offered £4630 and you only want £5000 why not just sell it to WBAC?
It's likely the buyer will try get money off and it's just a hassle IMO
WBAC will be far easier... and seeing as it's a matter of £300 seriously worth considering

Eh?

Unless the car 100% pristine.... i.e. no dents, scratches or touched-up stone chips, no rust, no kerbed or corroded wheels, 100% unmarked bumpers, perfect service history etc - WBAC will knock down the price considerably when inspecting it.

You could of course go back to the WBAC website and fully declare each and every scratch or blemish and see how the price plumets.

WBAC offered me £3750 for my 57 plate CLK 320 CDI Sport. It's only got 89k miles on it, Tanzanite Blue, cream leather. It's mint. If I do t get £5800 I'll just keep it another year...the V6 diesel is on par with the 350 performance wise.

Reduced to £4,750 a great car for the money.

I never would use WBAC on a car of this vintage..

Price reduction. Needs to go very nice low mileage MB full history. £4,625 ono.
