If you have a website I bet that you receive offers every day from 'specialists' who can promote your site to page one of GOOGLE.

I normally just delete them but one caught my eye today as they claim to have analysed my site and found several basic errors which prevent it from appearing. This is curious as I already appear relatively often in searches, on this basis I searched for a firm in her industry and they don't appear anywhere!

I have emailed her back suggesting that she works her magic on her own site first and then, if she can prove that it has worked, then I'll talk to her about mine.

I know, too much time on my hands.

I also have too much time on my hands because I check out these search engine optermisation companies.
They never feature on the first page of Google, sometimes they don’t appear within the first five pages!

Keeping your website fresh (updates and keywords) is the answer for high rankings and 5hats what these companies do but obviously not for themselves

Spam. Delete. Standard text sent to millions of email addresses based on Whois. Ignore.

No different in essence to ambulance-chaser firms calling you about 'your accident', or 'your claim', or 'your PPI insurance'.... They are all chancers.

SEO is hard to quantify the results, depending on how you use your website. With ours, its mainly information and according to my mate Goggle, over 50% of those that were presented with our details actually Googled for our Company name. Where the search term was for our chosen keywords we are normally on page 1. This is without any external SEO. we just keep pages updated, and careful use of keywords and keeping the meta data keywords to a minimum.
