Serpentine Belts needed

Simon 1966: Correct. I punched in the number plate of my car and a bold red warning came up stating: NOT the correct belt - please call.

I did and a very knowledgeable lady asked for my details and voila - 2 new belts supplied by the MB OE aftermarket supplier of choice: "Gates". Both were less than half the price sold @ MB main dealers. Job done.

I recently picked up a S/C belt from Mercedes and it was £36 after some discount. Thanks to this thread and the link to Misterauto I have ordered a serp belt and spare s/c belt for £39.

The belt supplied by Mercedes was made by Gates, the same as supplied by Misterauto.

The challenge now is to find a supplier other than the main stealers - for a compressor belt. If anyone can - I'd be grateful for the tip?

Same place mate just ordered a spare.

They don't do compressor belts for sl55's they tell me?

Surely the belt is the same for a SL55 and an E55? It's the same engine after all. Strange:dk:

part number: 1139970192. (Cross ref: 6PK 2462).
Sorry Sir, don't stock that number.

Anyone any suggestions for a supplier other than MB?

Thanks stwat for being so diplomatic this time :)
And - guess what, that's exactly what I did. ALL the results are in the states???
No-one (yet) sells these in the UK other than the Stealers.

Mate you do need to look a little hard at the web pages.

V-Ribbed Belts GATES - 8PK1289ES for MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W211) E 55 AMG Kompressor (476Hp) lowest prices - Engine compartment - Belt - V-Ribbed Belts - V-Ribbed Belts - 8PK1289ES

Look down page and you will see the OE code = 1139970192 this is the same for all 55K engines not just the E55.

Mrhanky.

I rang MB and asked for the part numbers for the alternator and the compressor belts.
Both numbers had cross references "6PK". I assumed they knew what they were talking about??? FIRST MISTAKE.
When I rang Misterauto, they checked the alternator belt for stock and said yes it was available. When they checked for the compressor they said they didn't stock these belts. When I showed them the advert (which your link refers to), they said that was an "8PK" which meant it was an 8 groove unlike the "6PK" which is a six groove), which therefore wouldn't fit my car.
So I again assumed they knew what they were on about??? That was my SECOND MISTAKE. Because I work away from home and the car is garaged there I was absolutely convinced I was searching for a "6PK" belt.
After your post above - I checked the car and voila: the compressor belt is an 8 groove?????

You couldn't make it up if you tried.

Thanks for forcing me to get off my ar*e and go check the damn car!

I'll now get back to both of them and "have a chat".

No worries as long as your sorted now.
