Well guys, I had the service A completed today at Mercedes Norwich, all in all a pleasant experience, I’ve also purchased at a monthly cost of £46 a service plan for 2 years servicing, my next service is the big one, so I’m hoping it’ll pay for itself?

What is everyone’s thoughts on these plans?

No they never gave me any options to pay up front....They did mention that they very rarely get an C63s in with any issues, the service plan includes everything apart from tyres and brakes.....The next service in 12 months is going to be near £1k isn't it.....They also said I have 70% wear on the rear pads?

I would cancel the plan and take out one online to pay upfront and save 20%

Very sneaky buddy , love it :)
Not really sneaky I don't think but personally think it is poor that the dealership didn't mention the upfront payment offer, so I would have no problem with cancelling and taking out the cheaper option.

I’m with you all the way !

I will call them Monday and speak to the girl who sold it me

I just paid £1065 for a 3 year plan on an E400D Coupé from 2nd service on . That was with 20% off.

It's a financial product, you can cancel without penalty within 14 days (the statutory 'cooling off' period).

The 20% upfront is on line only, that may be why they didn’t mention as they wanted to sell you a service plan

if your A service was part of your service plan, cancellation may not be as financially attractive as you have to pay full price for that A service

brake pads and discs, wipers, MOT are not included in service plans

I'm going for the 2 year plan saving £164 with the promo code. £652 up front payment

OP stated he bought the plan after the Service A.

Did they offer you the 20% off for payment upfront?

That’s only available when you buy online directly, and not through a main dealer. I dare say the discount is partly offset by the commission paid to the dealership and/or salesperson.

Yes I realise these items are not included in the plan

so your paying something like £1200 for a couple of oil changes ??? possibly a gearbox service at year 5 .

let me think about a service plan for a moment !! erm no thanks.

For those who have decided that a main dealer service history is important to them, or have a particularly good main dealer, then a service plan is probably better value for most scenarios - a single basic A service with no additional items is probably better paid as a one off.

Of course there are plenty of other ways to service and maintain a car, and pay for it, and the right one is the one which suits the individual.

I was under the impression mine will need servicing every 12 months? time more than mileage, If I'm wrong then someone correct me, like I've said I'm new to the vehicle, the next service on my C63s will be the B which is the expensive one, so if it is in 12 months time then me paying £46 per month should in theory work out cheaper, as the £46 remains the same fixed price, where MB can and probably will increase there labour costs like every other business seems to be doing, plus my vehicle still has MB warranty, and when I did enquire at a specialist only certain items remained covered by warranty.....But if I'm wrong I need to be told.....I was also informed that with a service plan there's usually a certain amount of good will from MB is something does break?
Cheers guys

Sadly I wouldn't rely too much on any Goodwill from MB.

As for the Service Care Plan, you bought 2 services, and agreed to pay for them in installments over 24 months.

But these are two separate timelines. You can consume the two services whenever you want.

You will be paying for the 2 services £46x24=£1,104, which works-out as a fixed cost of £552 per service.

The next 2 services would have cost more if you didn't have the Service Care Plan in place, so you will be saving money.

The question of which is better, dealer service or specialist, is a separate discussion.
