Service Care Plan v Servicing schedule

This covers the services and everything that Mercedes-Benz recommends changing at the time of the service.

My bold.

This part is critical as the dealer goes off the ESS (Electronic Service Sheet) - you can access it online and it's the same place that MyService uses to give quotes. Mercedes could change the schedule (unlikely) but what is clear is that if the car's annual mileage is low, the the ESS sometimes (perhaps often) doesn't call out expected work. If it's not called for then the dealer won't even think to do it. If you ask about it then likely the dealer will push back as they'll have a batlle getting paid for it. The other thing is the ESS assumes past work was done on time, so it won't 'catch up' on missed work.

Since 2008, servicing is at fixed intervals (or mileage - whichever occurs first etc), so even if the annual mileage is low, the service items will be triggered by time interval and picked-up by ESS.

Also, a common issue is when ESS picks-up the transmission as 'sealed for life' and the dealer refuses to change the ATF under the Service Care Plan.
