Service clock not reset from factory on delivery

My 4 day old MB is telling me that I need a service in just over 10 months time. Clearly the clock wasn't reset when the car passed through the dealer.

As the dealer is 100 miles away I don't intend going back there for a reset but does it matter that when I take the car in for its first service it will show I have missed the service date?

There are much closer dealers that could reset it for me but would they want to seeing I didn't buy the car from them?

I should imagine that it's a very quick process to reset. It'll annoy the hell out of you for a year otherwise.

Phone up main dealer and ask if there's a process you can go through at home.

If not take it to the nearest. Doesn't matter that you didn't buy the car off them. There're there to provide service as well as sales.
