Service Contracts

Has anyone taken one out? Are they worth having?
For C-class 12k/yr mileage, a 4yrs-contract is between £31 and £48 / month depending on level of cover. I'm new to Mercs and not sure what discs/ pads / exhausts etc cost.

Ive had one on last three cars and it suits me. Don,t think you save money but it spreads the cost and if you are happy with your main agent.
Last time in they replaced brakes and disc no charge provided you ask first when booking in.

I'm wondering if the 4 yrs of cover effectively gets you a 4th years warranty (which presumeably costs quite a bit) or not?

Make sure the price includes VAT!

I checked the price for my car (C270CDi for 30K miles/year for 3 yrs) and they wanted £115 (then told me +VAT, so £135) for service only, no tyres. It nearly put me off buying the car! I didn't go for it, and as it happens, my mileage has been less that I expected.

OTOH, my for my daughter's new Ibiza, 12k/yr for 3 yrs, all service, maint and tyres was £20/mth! Think I'm selling my Merc and buying a SEAT!

It only covers routine service items and does not give you a extended warrenty, However if you get on well with your service manager you can get extras!! It is inclusive of VAT

Interesting to see these service contract prices. I am reviewing lease agreements with no mtnce, leasing with maintainance and my company car scheme so it's usefull to see he real cost of a this type of scheme. Thanks.

The £48 level includes all repairs and MOT assoictaed costs as well as the servicing, but doesn't include tyres. The repair costs do include pads/discs / anything else. As for warranty, doesn't the MobioLife extend the warranty every time you have it serviced?

Yes, but it's a very limited warranty, mainly for corrosion and it provides a breakdown service. It's not a warranty which would, for example, buy you a new auto box if yours failed.
